Linda tells this tea's story:
This cake is the 2009 edition of the Red Yiwu produced by the Yu family in San He Village in Yiwu. Tea farmers usually do not store their teas for aging but there were a few tongs of this tea left at the daughter’s tea shop in Kunming.

Taste characteristics:
When I smelled the cake before unwrapping it, I was struck by its fragrance. Upon brewing the leaves, I was both surprised and rewarded by the camphor and honey scent. The tea is perfectly balanced and leaves a pleasant mouthfeel and a comforting cool sensation all over the mouth cavity. Smooth and silky, the tea flows softly and gently down the throat.

Although I was not able to buy this tea in quantity, I feel privileged to own such great tea. If a good tea has the ability to rid us of our worldly stress, this tea certainly can.

Brewing guide

Use 5 grams of leaves in 6 oz pot or cup. Brew with 212 F degree water (100 C).

Amazing tea!

Very sweet tasting tea. There's a noticeable honey note to it in the first 4-5 brews; not so much in the subsequent brews, but they are still enjoyable and easy to drink.

Great flavor, aroma and energy

This has wonderful flavors and aromas that emerge and evolve after several steepings. I got the best results when using the recommended water temperature. A great tea, especially for those who appreciate subtlety and a nice, relaxing cha qi

Wonderful Tea

On the first and second infusion, the tea had a mild hint of red dates and sweetness. The next infusion, the sweetness covers the entire mouth, as the flavor is deeper. After awhile, the stress of the day is distant and the body feels a warm sensation. The sweetness on the fourth is pronounced and the tea is smooth. Later infusions have slight bitterness, but, the sweetness returns. The tea goes well with food or snack. The relaxation from the tea continues after each cup.

Yiwu is reputed as the queen of pu-erh. It is elegant, soft, and sweet. It is one of my favorite regions.

Great YiWu tea. Great Raw Pu-erh tea

I already own the Red YiWu Raw Pu-erh Tea (2014). I bought 5 gram of this Yiwu San He Hao Raw Pu-erh Tea (2009) to try. I taste-drank the two tea side-by-side. Both are excellent tea. Both have the YiWu characteristics of water-softness mouth-feel and a hint of plum (sour fruit) taste. These two characteristics make YiWu a great tea to drink every day and every moment. To me, both the 2014 and 2019 version tasted fairly similar to me. I highly recommend either Yu’s family YiWu tea for people who enjoy raw pu-erh tea.
