By buying high quality, artisan crafted Nepalese tea, you can count yourself as a part of the solution for Nepal's problems. Our friend, Jeni, of Jeni Dodd's Tea, witnessed first-hand the devastating 7.8 earthquake in Nepal and the subsequent humanitarian crises resulting from the embargo that denied Nepal of 70% of critical imports for nearly 9 months. She advocates trade rather than aid, to create long-term stability for this struggling country.

This is a tea that I drink everyday because it's economical and delicious. I'm impressed with the quality of tea from Nepal because it Rivals that of China at a lower price.
Hi Nancy, We're so glad you enjoy the Shangri-La Gold Nepal Black Tea and appreciate its quality and value. We have many fond memories from our trip to Nepal.
I ordered this tea after receiving a sample with a previous order. It has an excellent flavor and is not astringent and can be brewed about three times.
This is a very special tea. Yes, it is a black tea, but each sip ends with a heavenly note of rose. This is not a floral tea with that imitation perfume aroma. I could sip it every day or serve it to some "royal" guests!
I tried this tea since I have tried several of Banas' pu-erh teas, and enjoyed them all. This one caught my eye because it was listed as a black tea, and because the description included a hint of "rose" in the flavor. I enjoy it because it is brewed like a pu-erh - quickly (and frequently), but tastes like a black. Very smooth, very little tannin taste. And the little breath before the sip - is roses! Delightful!
I love black teas from Yunnan. I have been drinking them for years. I recently took a chance on ordering via the internet a tea called Shangri-La Gold. I was thrilled with the brew. It’s a rich flavorful tea with deep notes of dark chocolate. Loose teas are my favorite I feel I’m getting the full benefit of tea when it has the freedom to open up in a pot with fresh filtered water.
Thank you for your nice review. I have been to the factory myself and was impressed with their operation. The tea speaks for it.

Shangri-la GoldNepalese Black TeaThe tea always comes neatly packaged with brewing instructions printed on the box.I brewed this one according to the instructions and wasn’t disappointed. The leaves were whole, and not broken, as I measured out 5 grams for my small pot.The dry and wet leaves had a light apricot scent. After brewing, the wet leaves still carried the same scent, but reminded me of the smell you experience walking on a fall forest floor after a light rain… ahhh. The 1st brew, delights your taste buds with a light cocoa and apricot flavor. It is full bodied, and lingers on the tongue, as you go for another cup.Ironically as I sipped on the first cup, enjoying the hint of cocoa, I saw the stamp in the bottom of the small 6oz glass mug, The nestle co… smile…The subsequent steeps grew a bit more bold. For myself, the bolder it is the better. As I began to drink the last steep, it lightened up, but still soothing and pleasant, as I wound down the evening…
Thank you so much for the detailed description of your tasting experience. I have personally visited the factory that produces this tea. It is a well-run company that is reflected in the quality of its teas.
Why get along with flat ordinary black tea when you can drink this! Great afternoon pick-me-up. Surprisingly complex flavor.
I totally agree with your assessment - why drink the flat ordinary black tea when there is a better option.
I love this tea and have ordered it several times. I love that you can get several brews from of it, and that each one tastes slightly different. I love ordering from Bana Tea overall - great selection of puerh teas, also. Good selections, good service! Just read my review - realize there's a lot of Love's in it, but they are really good! just read my review - realize there's a lot of loves in it, but they are really good!
Janet, thank you so much for your high praise. I really appreciate it. I will continue to work hard to source the best teas and to provide the best services to all Bana supporters.
Tea is how I start my day. I have been drinking golden Yunnan for years that is until I tried Shangri-La black tea. I love the rich taste, the notes of dark chocolate, the beautiful red color. I have a tiny clay tea pot that makes one cup at a time. The first cup is great but the second cup is just as good. I would recommend it to anyone who loves loose leaf black tea.
Thank you for the nice review and the endorsement!
