Type: Ripe Pu-erh (fermented)
Grade: 1-3
Production area: Licang, Yunnan Province

Taste characteristics:
Chang-an was the name of China's ancient capital. The name can be translated to mean "long-term stability." Good health is a key feature of one's stability and tea drinking is an integral part of achieving good health.

This Mini-Chang-an tea is made from the spring harvest of old-growth arbor trees. Hence, the tea is thicker, richer and more nuanced than most ripe pu-erh teas. After ten-plus years of aging, this tea has become nutty, sweet and simply delicious. The tea comes in twelve pressed mini-coins. Each mini-coin contains 10g of leaves and can be easily broken into half by pressing the creased lines separating the two portions.

Steeping instructions:
Use half of the lucky coin (5g) per 6 oz of water. (Or the whole coin per 12 oz of water). Pour boiling water (212'F) over the lucky coin, wait 5 sec. and pour out the water. This is a rinse; do not drink it. Start steeping according to the recommended steeping time below.

Good but...

By John Thomas
I enjoyed this tea but found it to be overly dark and pungent on its own. I like mixing it with other less dark sho pu-erh's (like God Medal 2006 and Enchantment of Ancient trees to round out the flavor.

Lovely tea

By Sunflower
After tasting a sampler of teas, I chose this one for it's smooth and subtle character. The tea has lovely subtle aromas and a smooth body with each steeping. I especially like the scent, with a touch of seaside air with the wood and leaf aromas.

Immediate Gratification

By Shelley Oram
These handy coins are so convenient for a quick, easy tea experience. The tea is medium strength with a steady smooth taste and aroma.

One of the best

By Carolyn W
I left a similar review for the Chang-an Ripe brick. This is my favorite tea. I bought every last box of the loose tea when it was offered, and have tried to stock up on both these coins and the brick. This has great flavor, lasts many steeps, and it a "good feeling" tea. I highly recommend.
Our Response:

Thank you, Carrie. Yes, you did buy the last box of the Chang-an loose leaf Ripe.
