Ming Qian tea refers to tea leaves harvested before the Chinese Qing Ming Festival, which falls around April 5th. Ming Qian tea is regarded as the finest and most prized crop of the year’s production. There is a Chinese saying, "Ming Qian tea, precious as gold."

This Jingmai Pu-erh mini-brick is one of our 2012 Ming Qian tea series. This tea is made entirely with leaves from old growth arbor trees from Jingmai. The tea offers clean and balanced rose and honey notes. The flavor is subtle, yet so rich that it coats your mouth cavity and can be savored long after you drink the tea. Like other teas made from old trees, the “Qi” of this tea is felt right away and gives rise to a sense of well-being all over the body. A tea of this quality takes tea appreciation to a different level. If you're looking for a tea to help you experience cha qi, try this tea.

Caution: This brick is very tightly compressed to preserve its fragrance. Please use great caution when loosening the leaves from the brick.

Brewing guide

Use 5 grams of leaves in a 3-4 oz gaiwan or Yixing teapot. For best results, use a mixture of chunks of leaves and the small broken leaves to balance the timing of the release of flavors. Brew with 212 F degree water (100 C). Rinse prior to brewing.

A Beautiful Tea

By M Borgialli
The Jingmai Ming Qian is one of the first teas I purchased from Bana several months ago (along with the Nannuo Ming Qian), and one of the first fine pu-erh teas I ever tasted. Trying it again today I am transported back in time. This is by far one of my favorite teas, and while still young it has already developed beautiful buttery and floral notes (at least to my palate) with minimal astringency; it is complex and easy to drink, and with it's great density a little goes a long way. Just make sure you have a tea pick!
Our Response:

Thank you very much for your nice review. Jingmai is one of my favorite tea mountains in Yunnan. Because the leaves for this tea were picked in early spring, it is the best of the best.
