Like fine French wine, Pu-erh improves with age. It makes a good heirloom that can be saved and savored on that special anniversary or birthday. Bana's founder, Linda Louie, named this tea for her grandson, Hunter, to commemorate him turning one year old. There's nothing more memorable than gifting him a special tea cake to celebrate his birthday and as a keepsake.

The leaves of this cake were picked from the old trees of my friend, Xiao Cao’s family tea garden in the high mountain of Mengsong. When first sampled this tea, I was impressed with its thickness and denseness. It possesses a pleasant aroma, complex flavors, and a quick and lasting hui gan (the cooling sensation in the mouth). Most notably is the qi (energy) that makes one feel very relaxed afterward. Every time I drink this tea, it brings smiles to my face. This tea is very pleasant to drink now, but it is anticipated to be an excellent tea in a few years.

Makes me happy

By Seth Berg
I had sampled many different Pu-erh teas the same week when I got to taste this one. Everything I was tasting seemed smooth but boring. This was a wake-up call about what Pu-erh could be. It's an interesting, exciting tea. It tastes much more expensive than its price.
Our Response:

Hi Seth, thank you for the nice review. I am very flattered!

Tea to savor

By Pu-erh tea fan
Speaking as a beginner here -as I learn more about the history and culture of Pu-erh tea, I am finding something that resonates on a deep level. The steps of brewing these wonderful teas and then the experience of seeing, breathing in and tasting them -so calming, and helps to bring me into the present. It is so easy to be distracted in this busy world and time to sip tea seems valuable.

I am enjoying very much the three different teas I have purchased from Bana Tea Company. Such high quality. The Tea Mastery section on their website is very worthwhile for those like me that are new to Pu-erh tea. I am happy to have found Bana Tea Company.
Our Response:

Thank you so much for the high praise. High quality pu-erh such as this cake deserves our attention and appreciation.

Tiny Treasure

By rose gaynor
Although I have enjoyed drinking primarily oolong and Chinese green teas for years, I decided to venture into pu-erhs. I had the pleasure of speaking to Linda Louie by phone and she recommended this tiny treasure of Hunter Raw Pu-erh. I appreciate the sweet, lingering flavor, even with repeated steepings. I purchased three different raw pu-erh tea cakes to take advantage of free shipping.

Our Response:

Good to know you are enjoying the teas I recommended.

Aromatic taste

By Neal Perrin
Enjoyed this one very much I was puzzled with the flavor. The first three or four infusions then I figured it out. Jordan almonds the pastel colored candy coated almonds. Very aromatic taste wonderful flavor hope to purchase more.
Our Response:

This is one of my favorites too. It's getting better and better each year.

Health and good fortune, Hunter!

By Cody
Heirloom for Hunter is my favorite puerh, right now. This tea fills my soul with joy and memories of times past. I also cannot help but smile with every drink of this tea. My tasting notes: light nuttiness, roasty sweetgrass, a lovely hui gan and a sweetness that lingers between sips. I will be adding a tung to my next order, I will think of Hunter and wish him well with every brew of this tea, for many years to come.
Our Response:

Thank you so very much for the kind wishes for Hunter - we appreciate it very much. By the time he can drink this tea, the tea will be even more awesome then.

Great tea!

By Carolyn W.
This tea is a fantastic price for an exceptional tea. It has a few years of age, great base material, and is delicious. I cannot believe the price. Linda clearly chose a great tea to honor her grandson!!
Our Response:

I know I couldn't go wrong with pressing a cake from a well-know region using materials from spring harvest and from old trees.
