The most important process in the making of a good ripe Pu-erh is the proper fermentation of the tea leaves. This requires great skill and experience of the tea master. This Pu-erh tea does not have the traditional flavor/taste that I loved as a kid growing up in Hong Kong. This actually has a paper taste when I first tried it.. not sure why and I am quite disappointed! I like the Tribute Ripe 2003 Pu-erh Tea Brick much much better.
We are sorry that you didn't enjoy this tea. For something more along the Hong Kong ripe pu-erh and Tribute Ripe 2003 flavors we would recommend Auspicious Sign: Year of the Dog Ripe Pu-erh or Elephant Hill Ripe Pu-erh.
Very Happy with the Denong Red Label 2004 Ripe Pu-erh Tea I ordered recently. I usually brew Lapsang Souchong or Oolong tea. But. I recently read Lisa See's book "The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane" in which she mentioned Bana Tea Company in her acknowledgements. I was delighted with the book and thought it would be fun to try tea the tea. It's my new favorite tea. I especially love brewing several small cups in a row. Each cup has been delightful.
We are so happy to hear that pu-erh is your new favorite tea. Yes, pu-erh can be steeped several times without having to change tea leaves. It saves a lot of time.
This is the most succulent puer I have found. It is rich, full, smooth, rounded--a chocolate among puers. Maturing for 20 years, it lacks the overcooked taste of artificially aged puer. If you like teas with considerable bite, this is not that, but it is an excellent example of the opposite direction.
Thank you for the wonderful review and the years of support of Bana Tea. We truly appreciate it.
Such a great value. Rich, woody and sweet. You can’t miss with Denong and Bana!

Thank you so much for your review of this tea. This is a good and affordable 20-year-old aged ripe pu-erh.
The old adage is so true; you pay for what you get. This sample with my order was outstanding compared to other Pu-erh teas from Amazon. Taste and aroma 10/10! Looking forward to trying my purchases. Thanks!
Pu-erh tea's quality ranges widely. We are so glad you can tell the quality difference. We truly appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
Excellent tea, service, packaging & timing. I have purchased tea here several times and find the descriptions helpful and accurate. The tea is packaged well and quick to arrive.
Thank you so much for your loyalty and kind words.
I love it all. Thank you.
After trying many different ripe Pu-erh teas, this one stood out as my favorite because of its rich, earthy flavor. I get many brews out of a small amount, and each brew has a slightly different take on the flavor that makes it fun. I look forward to drinking this tea every morning, all morning long!
