Translucent rice grain pattern porcelain was very popular in the 1980’s. Most were colored in blue-and-white. In comparison, red rice grain porcelain was extremely rare. Made in Jindezhen, China, this hand painted red rice grain cup was made for export during that period. Placed in front of light, the tea cup's rice grains are beautifully and translucently evident. The wall of this cup is thin but durable. This tea cup retains the aroma of tea efficiently, even long after the cup has been emptied.
